EMBARGO: Immediate Release

Lib Dems beat Greens and Conservatives in Geoffrey Clifton-Brown’s backyard

The Liberal Democrats have won a seat from the Greens in a marginal Conservative constituency in the North Cotswolds.

The local by-election win in The Rissingtons, in Geoffrey Clifton-Brown’s North Cotswolds seat, saw the Liberal Democrats come from nowhere to win 37% of the vote.

Geoffrey Clifton-Brown is sitting on a majority of less than 3,400 with the Liberal Democrats a close second.

A Liberal Democrat source said:

“The writing is on the wall for Conservative MPs in marginal seats like this as the Tory vote continues to collapse.

"Kemi Badenoch is still chasing Reform and taking her party further to the right in a desperate attempt to stop more defections, alienating millions of former Conservative voters in the process.

“In seats like this and across the country, the Liberal Democrats are the ones who can beat the Conservatives and stop Reform."
