Lib Dems: Heathrow Third Runway plans “reckless” legacy move by PM

Responding to the Government publishing its blueprint for a third runway at Heathrow, Liberal Democrat Transport Spokesperson, Olly Glover MP, said:

"New transport infrastructure is vital for economic growth but rushing through a third runway to shore up the Prime Minister's job is reckless. Labour can't show how a Heathrow expansion squares with our climate commitments, or that it can be delivered anywhere near legal noise and air pollution limits.

"Instead of throwing everything at the most congested corner of the country, invest in the regions that have been starved of decent transport links for decades.

"In the middle of a cost-of-living crisis, Starmer should be prioritising struggling families, not grasping for quick headlines to score points against Burnham and Streeting.

“Real leadership delivers economic progress without trashing our climate commitments or steamrolling the communities in the flight path.”
