Lib Dems: Water company performance farce needs Government plan immediately

Responding to reports from regulators which state that environmental performance of water companies has fallen again, Liberal Democrat Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Spokesperson, Tim Farron MP, said:

“Yet another headline telling us what we already know: the UK water industry is a disgrace. We’ve known it for years but the solution is being kicked into the long grass once again.

"The Liberal Democrats put cleaning up our water on the political agenda back in 2024 and built a consensus around this farce. Our plan is the best plan -  it would put water back in public hands without paying billions to shareholders, what is the Government waiting for?”
