Lib Dems: We must "futureproof cyber-security" to protect public services

20 Oct 2025

EMBARGO: Immediate Release

Responding to recent nationwide internet outages, Liberal Democrat Business Spokesperson, Sarah Olney, commented:

"This is the second time in one week where we have seen an cyber incident causing havoc across our country.

"The Government should call a COBRA meeting to discuss mitigating the impact of this outage on vital infrastructure and public services.

“We also need to urgently futureproof our country’s cyber-security, instead of taking a whack a mole approach each time one of these incidents occurs.”
