Mandelson: Lib Dems blast Govt "shambles" as Davey demands public inquiry

Responding to the news that Government has announced plans to legislate to remove Peter Mandelson's peerage, and that the Cabinet Office has referred information to the police after "safeguards were compromised", Liberal Democrat Leader Ed Davey said: 

“This whole scandal has been a shambles.

"We need answers from Government as to how on earth Peter Mandelson was appointed ambassador to the US in the first place, and how he was able to leak sensitive information from the heart of government undetected.

"Only a full public inquiry, with the ability to compel witnesses, can get to the truth and deliver justice for Epstein's victims.”
