Mortgages: Hammer blow while Govt sits on hands

Responding to the news that fixed-rate mortgages have risen to the mini-budget peak, Liberal Democrat Treasury Spokesperson Sarah Olney MP said: 

"This will come as a hammer blow to millions of families right across the country who just want a fair deal. 

"Every month under this Government brings cold comfort to millions of hardworking families struggling with their mortgages and the cost of living.

"For too long Ministers have sat on their hands and done nothing but wish these headaches away - that is not good enough. 

"We need real action to help people with their mortgages and that starts by introducing the Liberal Democrats' mortgage protection fund."
