Ofcom investigation: Access to X must be restricted now to avoid "monetising of sexual abuse"

12 Jan 2026

EMBARGO: Immediate Release

Responding to the announcement that Ofcom has launched an investigation into Elon Musk's X over the use of its AI tool Grok to create sexualised images of children and women, Victoria Collins MP, Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Science, Innovation and Technology, said:

"X is monetising sexual abuse, that cannot continue for a moment longer.

"Ofcom is right to investigate, but while it does, access to X and Grok must be immediately restricted through a temporary business disruption order. Every delay risks more victims.

"And we challenge Nigel Farage to stop profiting from a platform that enables abuse. Reform MPs must donate every penny earned from X to charities supporting survivors of sexual exploitation."
