Rail crowding stats expose "embarrassingly poor service" and need for improved timetables, say Lib Dems
EMBARGO: Immediate Release
Responding to today's [28th July] rail crowding statistics, Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Transport, Olly Glover MP, said:
"UK rail travel should be easy and affordable, yet we are still lumped with an embarrassingly poor service across our rail network, with passengers paying extortionate prices and not even getting a seat on peak trains.
“If Andy Burnham is serious about connecting and growing our regions, he must, at the very least, restore services back to pre-pandemic timetables and train capacity. We should be making it as easy as possible for passengers to access fast, clean travel but currently the Government's attempt at rail reform is falling far short.”
