Report into antisemitism: scale of hate incidents is “utterly unacceptable”

6 Aug 2025

EMBARGO: 00.01 Wednesday 6th August

Responding to a report from Community Security Trust which recorded 1,521 anti-Jewish hate incidents in the UK, the second-highest total of anti-Jewish hate incidents ever recorded by the organisation in the first half of any year, Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey said:

“The scale of antisemitism is utterly unacceptable. My heart goes out to the British Jewish community, none of whom should have to suffer or live in fear simply because of their identity.

“Since the 7th October terrorist attacks by Hamas, the rise in antisemitism has been horrifying and as a society we must all resolve to stamp it out.

“The Liberal Democrats will always fight to ensure that everyone can feel safe in their communities, whether that’s calling on the Government to support cross-community work, or pushing for the funding needed to secure the right protective security measures.”
