Shoplifting: Govt has let epidemic get out of control

Responding to the latest figures showing that shoplifting has hit its highest level in over 20 years, LiberalDemocrat Home Affairs spokesperson, Alistair Carmichael MP said:
"This government has allowed the shoplifting epidemic to get out of control.
"Shopkeepers are being abandoned while criminals are allowed to act with impunity.
"Britain has gone from being a nation of shopkeepers to one plagued by shoplifters.
"Ministers must take urgent action to protect our shops and high streets.
"That means a return to proper community policing, which has been decimated for too long under this government."
