Starmer at MSC: finally waking up to the threat of relying on Trump

Responding to Keir Starmer's speech at the Munich Security Conference, Liberal Democrat Defence Spokesperson, James MacCleary MP said: 

“It's a relief to see Starmer finally waking up to the threat of relying on Trump for our security. He's a bully who can't be trusted. But it looks like the Prime Minister is trying to reinvent the wheel and start from scratch on defence cooperation with Europe.

"Instead of wasting time, he should be leading negotiations to get us favourable access to Europe’s rearmament programme, which is already up and running.

"He also needs to stop sticking his head in the sand about how to fund an immediate uplift to the UK's defence spending, and get on with implementing the Lib Dem idea for defence bonds which would provide the urgent cash boost our armed forces need.”
