Time for new global football body, say Lib Dems

Responding to the news of a UEFA boycott for FIFA competitions, Liberal Democrat Culture, Media and Sport Spokesperson, Anna Sabine MP, said:

"Gianni Infantino has dragged football's reputation through the mud, and now he's selling off FIFA's rotting husk to the highest bidder.

"UEFA is right to stand up to him, but we can't let this moment pass. Football should be for the fans in the stands, not shareholders in ivory towers.

"It's time to give Infantino the red card and for UEFA to lead the creation of a new global footballing body built on accountability and transparency that puts fans first."
