Unemployment figures: Workers are paying the price for government failures

Responding to the latest unemployment figures, which have hit a near five-year high, Liberal Democrat Treasury Spokesperson Daisy Cooper MP said:

“These figures show it's workers who are paying the price for the government’s failures.

“From the damaging jobs tax to the betrayal on business rates, small an high streets across the UK are fighting to stay afloat, let alone grow.

“Liberal Democrats are urgently calling for the Government to reverse their devastating jobs tax and to roll out an emergency VAT cut for hospitality until April 2027 to Get Britain growing again and create the job opportunities people need.”
