Protect SEND kids
from Private Profiteering
It is a scandal that our most vulnerable children and their families are being treated like cash cows by offshore investors. Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision, which supports children with learning difficulties and disabilities, should be treated as critical national infrastructure, ensuring our children’s education is put first.
The current system is failing the very children it was designed to support. While families struggle to secure the help their children need, private SEND providers are reporting record profits and draining already overstretched council budgets. Public money that should be funding frontline support is instead being siphoned offshore.
The Liberal Democrats would introduce new protections to give the Government stronger powers to block harmful investments in the SEND sector, and ensure public money goes to frontline services for children - not investors’ pockets.
Protect SEND kids from private profiteering
We the undersigned support the Lib Dem campaign to declare SEND schools a critical national infrastructure - introducing new legal protections to put children’s education above profit.
