Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Welwyn Hatfield
The Local Party Executive of Welwyn Hatfield Liberal Democrats invites applications for the selection of a Prospective Westminster Parliamentary Candidate for the constituency of Welwyn Hatfield. Applications must be received by the Returning Officer no later than 12 noon on 16th October 2026.
To apply, please use the provided online links to fill out the Candidate Application Form as well as the Candidate Statement & Diversity Form.
Separately, please email the following documents to the Returning Officer:
- Election Artwork: This should be a political CV or manifesto, limited to a single side of A4 in PDF format which is maximum 2 MB in size. This document will be included in the e-ballot and posted member mailing.

Applicants are responsible for ensuring their submission is confirmed as received by the Returning Officer prior to the closing time of 12 noon on 16th October 2026.

About Welwyn Hatfield
- Welwyn Hatfield is made up of 15 of the 16 district council wards within the Borough Council of Welwyn Hatfield.
- The Liberal Democrats currently hold 15 of the 45 seats on the district council, with Labour on 16, the Conservatives on 9, Reform on 3 and two Independents. The most recent elections were in 2026.
- The Liberal Democrats run the council in coalition with Labour.
- At the County Council the Liberal Democrats won 3 seats, with Reform and the Conservatives on 2 each and Labour on 1. At the County Council we are a minority administration.
