Prospective Westminster Parliamentary Candidate for Birmingham Yardley

The Local Party Executive of Birmingham Yardley Liberal Democrats invites applications for the selection of a Prospective Westminster Parliamentary Candidate for the constituency of Birmingham Yardley. Applications must be received by the Returning Officer no later than 12 noon on 9th October 2026.

Yardley is where Birmingham's political map is being redrawn. Labour's majority is down to just 693 votes, and while the constituency's Westminster result in 2024 was fragmented across five parties, our local strength here tells a very different story: Lib Dem councillors now hold most of the seat's council wards, and it was a Yardley councillor who became Birmingham's first ever Liberal Democrat council leader in June 2026, heading the administration that now runs the UK's largest local authority. 

With a track record of delivery already on the doorstep and a Labour vote in retreat, Yardley is a seat where the right candidate can turn strong local trust into a serious Westminster challenge.

• Election Artwork: This should be a political CV or manifesto, limited to a single side of A4 in PDF format which is maximum 10 MB in size. This document will be included in the e-ballot and posted member mailing.
