Prospective Westminster Parliamentary Candidate for Putney

The Local Party Executive of Wandsworth Borough Liberal Democrats invites applications for the selection of a Prospective Westminster Parliamentary Candidate for the constituency of Putney. Applications must be received by the Returning Officer no later than 12 noon on 23rd October 2026.

Putney is Labour-held at Westminster, but the ground is shifting. In the May 2026 local elections, our target ward campaigns achieved strong second places in two wards, and the change in control of Wandsworth Council has created an opening for us. With around 450 members across the borough, some of whom campaigned for the first time this year, we have a strong base to build on.

Putney sits on the edge of South West London's ‘golden halo’ of Liberal Democrat seats, next door to Wimbledon and Richmond Park. So we are well placed to build towards winning here. 

Our strategy is focused – build the team, mobilise and grow our membership, and keep up a year-round presence in key wards – all with the goal of turning this year's results into a Council breakthrough in 2030. The candidate will be central to that, as the public face of our campaign and a driving force behind it. We're looking for an enthusiastic, energetic candidate who shares this ambition, can motivate volunteers and members, and can commit 16 to 20 hours a month.

• Election Artwork: This should be a political CV or manifesto, limited to a single side of A4 in PDF format which is maximum 2 MB in size. This document will be included in the e-ballot and posted member mailing.
