About the role

Do you want to help make Sevenoaks a better place to live? Do you want to see our values make a real difference in people’s lives? Do you want to play a leading part in building one of the Liberal Democrats’ most exciting local and parliamentary campaigns?

Tara Matthews and the Sevenoaks Liberal Democrats are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and self-motivated Campaigns Organiser to help us build the campaigning operation we need to win.

Sevenoaks is a strategically important area for the Liberal Democrats. You will play a leading role in our campaign to elect Tara Matthews as our new MP and in next year’s local elections to Sevenoaks District Council, where we are looking to make significant gains.

This role will have a particular focus on Sevenoaks Constituency and agreed priority seats for the May 2027 elections, including helping to build sustainable campaigning capacity across the Local Party.

You will work closely with Tara, the campaign team, councillors, and volunteers to turn our campaign plans into action. That will include organising voter-contact activity, recruiting and supporting volunteers, producing effective campaign literature, helping to coordinate delivery networks, developing our digital campaigning, and ensuring campaign data is collected and used effectively.

We are looking for someone with exceptional communication and people skills who enjoys making things happen. You will be comfortable taking responsibility, juggling competing priorities and keeping campaigns moving, while creating a welcoming and positive environment for volunteers.

This is an opportunity to take on substantial responsibility within a growing campaign operation, develop your campaigning and campaign management skills, and help build the organisation needed to elect more Liberal Democrats locally and to win Sevenoaks at the next General Election.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated to hit targets and deliver results, and proactive in keeping pace with the campaign, getting stuck into a range of tasks and getting things done.

Key responsibilities

The Campaigns Organiser will work with Tara and the campaign team to implement agreed campaign priorities.

  1. Plan and deliver campaigning activity across Sevenoaks and target seats, including canvassing, action days, voter contact and literature delivery.
  2. Lead, train and support volunteers, building confident teams able to run campaigning activity independently.
  3. Grow and sustain the volunteer base, ensuring new volunteers are recruited, welcomed, matched to suitable tasks and kept engaged.
  4. Coordinate campaign communications, producing and distributing literature, identifying strong local messages and supporting digital content.
  5. Manage campaign data, ensuring accurate data entry, supporting volunteers doing data work and using data to inform targeting.
  6. Support the campaign team, especially during election periods, while ensuring all activity follows electoral and data‑protection rules.
  7. Contribute to wider organisational work for the Local Party, including meetings, event support, and collaboration with councillors, candidates and officers.
  8. Build long‑term campaigning capacity, strengthening teams, expanding activity, and helping the Local Party win future elections, including the 2027 District Council election, West Kent Council elections and Sevenoaks at the next General Election.
