Purpose of the job
Do you want to help make history in Liverpool? Do you want to play a leading part in building one of the Liberal Democrats’ most exciting local election campaigns?
Cllr Carl Cashman and the Liverpool Liberal Democrats are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and self-motivated Campaigns Organiser to help us build the campaigning operation we need to win.
You will work closely with Carl, the Campaign Manager, the campaign team, councillors, and volunteers to turn our campaign plans into action. That will include organising voter-contact activity, recruiting and supporting volunteers, organising campaign literature, helping to coordinate delivery networks and ensuring campaign data is collected and used effectively.
We are looking for someone with exceptional communication and people skills who enjoys making things happen. You will be comfortable taking responsibility, juggling competing priorities and keeping campaigns moving, while creating a welcoming and positive environment for volunteers.
This is an opportunity to take on substantial responsibility within a growing campaign operation, develop your campaigning and campaign management skills, and help build the organisation needed to elect more Liberal Democrats locally and to win Sevenoaks at the next General Election.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated to hit targets and deliver results, and proactive in keeping pace with the campaign, getting stuck into a range of tasks and getting things done.
Job Description:
- Deliver campaigning activity across Liverpool target seats, including canvassing, action days, voter contact and literature delivery.
- Lead, train and support volunteers, building confident teams able to run campaigning activity independently.
- Grow and sustain the volunteer base, ensuring new volunteers are recruited, welcomed, matched to suitable tasks and kept engaged.
- Building organisational capacity in Target Wards, including recruiting deliverers and poster sites.
- Organising election material, assisting with the coordination and delivery of campaign literature.
- Manage campaign data, ensuring accurate data entry, supporting volunteers doing data work and using data to inform targeting.
Person Specification:
The following criteria are considered essential:
- Strong organisation and self-management skills. The ability to work unsupervised and to effectively prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate confidently and sensitively with a wide range of people.
- A positive, practical and solutions-focused attitude.
- Resilience and the ability to remain organised when working under pressure.
- The ability to build and maintain the confidence of a wide range of people, such as volunteers, candidates, elected representatives and other stakeholders.
- A strong drive to recruit, motivate, organise and retain volunteers.
- Good digital skills and a willingness to learn new software and systems. Confidence using, or willingness to learn, tools including social media, websites, desktop-publishing software and digital content-production tools.
- An interest in UK politics.
- Sympathy with the aims and values of the Liberal Democrats.
- The ability to travel independently and access to a car.
The following criteria are considered highly desirable:
