Constituency Organiser (Cheadle Lib Dems)

5 Nov 2026

Job Title:                Organiser

Responsible to:        Communications Manager

Salary:                £26,000-£28,000

Hours:                37.5 hours per week

Tenure:                6 months fixed term

Location:                Cheadle Hulme Lib Dem Office

Closing Date:        15th Nov 2026

Purpose of the job

Since Tom won Cheadle in 2024, the Liberal Democrats have been on the march here. In May 2027 we have four council seats that we can gain, as well as holding a further five, and we need a brilliant organiser to help us put more Lib Dem gold on the map.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role. You'll get volunteers out on the doorstep, keep our print operation running at full tilt, turn data into doors knocked and make sure councillors and campaigners have everything they need to win. If you love campaigning and want to see your work show up on results night, this is the job for you.

The post is split between two contracts: 60% (22.5 hours a week) for Cheadle Liberal Democrats and 40% (15 hours a week) supporting Tom Morrison MP's office.

  • Local party work (60%)
  • Campaigns and volunteers
  • Build and advertise the canvassing schedule and action days that power our target-ward campaigns.
  • Recruit, coordinate and look after volunteers.
  • Phone members to get them involved, and handle email communication with members.
  • Manage and promote the Team Cheadle WhatsApp group.
  • Support the CCLD Events Team.
  • Coordinate and produce street letters.
  • Manage and track posters.
  • Process responses from campaign surveys.
  • Handle day-to-day communications on the campaign plan.
  • Triage councillor requests through the office@ inbox.
  • Run data extracts from Connect.
  • Train councillors and volunteers to use Connect.
  • Manage walks in Connect's Walk Manager.
  • Run the CCLD print operation end to end: printing on the Riso, folding and bundling.
  • Keep print production records and order consumables.
  • Keep the print room organised.
  • Manage the CCLD photo library.

Parliamentary work (40%)

  • Triage Tom's parliamentary inbox and the office phones, logging enquiries and passing them to the right colleague.
  • Make the arrangements for Tom's advice surgeries, including booking venues.
  • Notify the police and parliamentary security contractors ahead of surgeries and events.
  • Handle constituents' details confidentially, in line with data protection law.

Why join us

  • Four winnable seats in May: your work will be measured in gains, not just leaflets.
  • A strong, growing team behind you: an MP, councillors and an enthusiastic volunteer base.
  • Real responsibility from day one, with Connect training and support from the party's campaigns team.
  • A brilliant springboard into a career in campaigning or politics.

What we're looking for

Essential

  • Experience recruiting, motivating and organising volunteers.
  • Strong organisation, with the ability to manage several tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Clear, friendly written and spoken communication.
  • Confidence working with data and databases (Connect training is provided).
  • Resilience and a can-do attitude under pressure.
  • Willingness to work some evenings and weekends.
  • Sympathy with the aims and values of the Liberal Democrats.
  • The discipline to keep party and parliamentary work strictly separate.

Desirable

  • Experience of election campaigns.
  • Experience of Connect, Walk Manager or Riso printing.
  • Design skills, for example Affinity Publisher.
  • Knowledge of Cheadle and Stockport.
  • A full driving licence and access to a car.

Starting date: 4th January 2027
