Small boat crossings: Scale up returns agreements rather than listen to Nigel Farage and the Conservatives

Responding to the Home Office 2025 immigration statistics which showed small boat arrivals have risen by 13%, Liberal Democrat Home Affairs Spokesperson Max Wilkinson MP said:

"The Conservatives and Nigel Farage will tell us this can be resolved by further blowing up our international partnerships, just like they promised Brexit would give us more control over immigration and asylum... yet look where that got us.

"The Liberal Democrats would work with our closest neighbours and other safe countries to urgently scale up returns agreements. That's how you finally restore control and create a functional and fair asylum system."
