EMBARGO: For Immediate Release

The Liberal Democrats have slammed Rishi Sunak for spending over £500,000 on private jets, describing it as "shocking waste of taxpayers money."

Cabinet Office figures uncovered by the Telegraph yesterday show £512,000 was spent on private jets for three trips in November and December 2022, to COP27 in Egypt, the G20 summit in Indonesia and the JEF summit in Estonia and Latvia.

Liberal Democrat Energy and Climate Spokesperson Wera Hobhouse MP said:

“This is a shocking waste of taxpayer’s money at a time when people are struggling to pay their bills.

“Yet again this Conservative government is completely out of touch.

“The government can pretend to care about a greener future with their so called ‘Green Day’ but the reality is they are trashing their own promises.”
