Mayoral Candidate for the Essex Mayoral Constituency

22 Jul 2025

The Essex Co-ordinating Selection Committee invites applications for selection as Mayoral Candidate for the Essex Mayoral Constituency.

Applications must be received by the Returning Officer by 5pm on Friday, 1st August.

If you have any questions about the Constituency or the Local Parties please contact Chris Davidson, 07484 346315, chris.davidson@chelmsfordlibdems.org.uk

To apply, applicants should supply a personal cv/manifesto of no more than two sides of A4, their contact details, and a completed and signed copy of the “candidate statement and diversity form” (click here to download a copy) to the Returning Officer, Neil McGovern by 5pm on the closing date of Friday, 30th May.

Returning Officer contact details: Neil McGovern | 07969 791292  | neil@halon.org.uk | 77 River Lane, Cambridge, CB5 8HP

As part of the planned shortened selection process, the CV/Manifesto should be usable by the Selection Committee as part of the member mailing which will go out at the start of the campaign. For it to be suitable for that purpose, it should include no endorsements from others, and if it includes any photos of people aside from the candidate, written permission from those people must be provided to the Returning Officer. If you are unclear about the rules about endorsements and photos including other people, please contact the Returning Officer for advice.

The Selection Committee is using the Shortened Selection process (click here) for selection. However, if 6 or more candidates apply for the seat, it would as per those rules move to the longer process (click here)
