Background

Be at the heart of our next General Election campaign. We’re seeking a talented, politically astute fundraiser to help Liberal Democrat MPs and candidates turn local momentum into vital resources. Your work will power local campaigns, boost our candidates’ prospects, and help drive real change across the country.

Following our best General Election performance in over a century, this is an exceptional moment to join the Liberal Democrat team. With the political landscape shifting and public appetite for change growing, our fundraising efforts will be critical in shaping success throughout this Parliament and at the next election.

You’ll be part of a high-performing team focused on running winning campaigns and securing donor support. With ambitious targets and real political momentum, we need a proactive, strategic, and entrepreneurial individual to help us deliver.

You’ll bring excellent communication and presentation skills, sharp political instincts, and the confidence to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders. This is an exciting, hands-on role - perfect for someone flexible, driven, and eager to make an impact.

Purpose of the role

This role is all about supercharging local fundraising operations: working closely with our MPs and key parliamentary candidates to help grow income and build long-term donor engagement.

In some cases, you’ll be working hands-on: helping identify and cultivate donors, plan events, and manage relationships. In others, your role will be more advisory: equipping candidates with the tools, strategy, and oversight they need to run their own effective fundraising operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with MPs and candidates to grow their income by:
    • Developing fundraising plans
    • Identifying prospects
    • Cultivating relationships
    • Organising fundraising events
    • Supporting event briefings and refining pitches/asks
    • Attending events and following up with donors to secure gifts

We’re looking for a confident, motivated, and highly organised individual; someone who is excited to help grow an engagement programme at a pivotal political moment.

Skills and Experience

  • Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with MPs, candidates, high-net-worth donors, and prospective donors.
  • Outstanding writing and communication skills, ideally with experience drafting materials for donors
  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities; ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
  • Comfortable building relationships via different channels: by phone, video call, in person, and by email.
  • Research skills to support donor identification & attention to detail in tracking interactions & progress. Project management experience would be helpful.
  • A background in fundraising or high-value relationship management would be helpful, or similar experience engaging stakeholders in nuanced & meaningful conversations.
  • Technologically confident: we use Google Workspace products (Gmail, Sheets, Drive, Calendar, etc.)
  • Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends, and occasional travel to London.
  • Sympathy with the aims and values of the Liberal Democrats.
