Location: Westminster and Central London, with the opportunity to work from home at least one day per week

Overview

As Incumbency Protection and Insights Manager, you'll be embedded in parliamentary operations, working directly with our 72 MPs and building relationships across the Liberal Democrats. You'll gain unparalleled insight into how Parliament works, develop your political judgement alongside experienced colleagues, and play a vital role in shaping how we support MPs to deliver for their communities.
You'll work closely with MPs and their teams, understanding the challenges they face in their constituencies and helping to develop the systems and support that enable them to thrive. It's a role that offers genuine insight into Westminster operations and provides an opportunity to build your understanding of how effective parliamentary offices function.
You'll identify and share best practices across the parliamentary party, turning insights into training, resources, and strategic improvements. It's a role for someone with sharp political judgement, excellent people skills, and ambition to grow their career whilst helping Liberal Democrat MPs thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead delivery of the MP Incumbency Protection workstream, working closely with LDHQ and parliamentary colleagues to ensure our MPs have the tools and insight they need to thrive
- Build deep and trusting relationships with MPs and their staff across all 72 constituencies, providing day-to-day advice on regulation, performance and office operations
- Work with Westminster stakeholders, including the Campaigns Department, LDHQ, IPSA and the Commons Whips Team, to ensure MPs and their staff receive timely, accurate and practical guidance
- Support the rollout of coordinated training and development programmes, tailored to both MPs and their teams, designed to embed best practice and maximise their impact
- Identify, capture and share the best of what works, using case studies, data and performance insights to inspire improvement across the parliamentary party
- Track and analyse key performance indicators, presenting findings clearly to senior stakeholders
Person Specification
Essential
- Excellent strategic and political judgement, with the ability to navigate complex environments confidently
- Outstanding communication skills - verbal, written and interpersonal - including experience influencing senior stakeholders
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver at pace
- A curious and analytical mindset, comfortable testing ideas, interpreting data and drawing actionable insights
- A confident self-starter, capable of working independently as well as collaboratively
- A proactive, solutions-focused attitude and a track record of driving improvement and innovation
Desirable
- A strong understanding of the political landscape and the role of MPs
- Experience working with or within political offices, campaigns or membership organisations
- Familiarity with the work of IPSA and the broader parliamentary framework
- Experience working with volunteers and building high-performing teams
- Sympathy with the aims and values of the Liberal Democrats
