Hours: Part-time, either: Mon-Wed, 24 hours per week or Term Time Only, 40 hours per week

Purpose of the job
The Liberal Democrats are thrilled to announce a fantastic opportunity to join the Leader’s Office following our historic triumph in the 2024 General Election, where we secured an incredible 72 seats and reclaimed our place as the third largest party in the House of Commons.
We are seeking a highly organised, personable, self-motivated, and proactive individual to support our Party Leader, his Head of Office, and his team. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact within a fast-paced political setting.
In this crucial role, you will work closely with the Head of Office to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the Leader’s diary, office, and day-to-day operations. You will also independently take initiative to identify gaps and fill them. You will gain firsthand experience in a high-level parliamentary office and handle a wide variety of tasks essential to our success.

Job Description:
Ensuring the smooth running of the Leader’s Office in Parliament, including (but not limited to):
- Running the Front of House operation of the Third Party Leader’s Office
- Accommodating and hosting meetings with Parliamentarians, foreign dignitaries, journalists, and other stakeholder visitors
- Ensuring the office is fully equipped and proactively identifying gaps/issues and working to resolve them
- Managing incoming correspondence
- Liaising with other Parliamentary offices
- Managing expenses independently
- Proactively and independently find ways to support the team
- Providing efficient and effective ad hoc support to the Leader and his team on a wide variety of tasks and projects
Person Specification:

- Exceptional personal organisation
- Ability to multitask
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Confidence when working with a variety of people, from Parliamentarians to the public
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision, self-motivating, and able to manage own workload
- Familiarity with current issues within UK politics and sympathy with the values and principles of the Liberal Democrats
