Responsible to: Head of Fundraising
Salary: From £32k
Tenure: 2-year contract with a 6-month probationary period
Hours: Negotiable: 0.6/ 0.8FTE to Full Time (37.5 hours per week)
Location: Hybrid: Liberal Democrats HQ (London) & remote working. Usually, at least 2 days per week at Lib Dems HQ, more time in the office may be required during busy periods and the initial settling-in period.

Be at the heart of our next General Election campaign. We’re seeking a talented, politically astute communicator to help the Liberal Democrats increase revenue raised through legacy donations - securing vital long-term funding for the party’s future.
Following our best General Election performance in over a century, this is an exceptional moment to join the Liberal Democrat fundraising team. With the political landscape shifting and public appetite for change growing, our fundraising efforts will be critical in shaping success throughout this Parliament and at the next election.
You’ll join a dynamic, collaborative team focused on securing major donor support across the party. With ambitious targets and real political momentum, we need a proactive, strategic, and entrepreneurial individual to help us deliver.

Purpose of Role
This role is about building and growing the Liberal Democrats’ Legacy Giving programme - developing compelling campaigns, inspiring members, and stewarding supporters who choose to leave a lasting gift to the party.
You’ll combine creativity, strategic thinking, and excellent communication skills to drive awareness, grow pledges, and maintain meaningful relationships with supporters. You’ll also manage the smooth administration of bequests, ensuring donors’ wishes are honoured and gifts are received efficiently.
This is a role for someone who can drive initiatives forward - someone who enjoys developing new ideas, crafting persuasive copy, and finding innovative ways to engage supporters with the party's long-term mission.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Campaigns
- Lead on marketing activity to promote legacy giving, including email campaigns, postal mailers, free will-writing promotions, and online and in-person events.
 - Create engaging copy and materials that inspire members to consider leaving a gift.
 - Develop and test new initiatives to increase awareness and conversion.
 
Legacy Society Stewardship
- Deliver an events and communications programme for Legacy Society members, ensuring they feel valued and connected to the party’s mission.
 - Maintain strong, personal relationships with pledgers to ensure their continued commitment.
 
Legacy Donations Administration
- Manage the administration of legacy donations, liaising with executors and solicitors to ensure gifts are processed efficiently and in line with donors’ intentions.
 - Maintain accurate records on Raiser’s Edge and ensure timely reconciliation of legacy income.
 
Promotion & Collaboration
- Champion legacy giving across the organisation, supporting regional and local parties to promote it effectively.
 - Work closely with the wider fundraising and communications teams to align messaging and maximise reach.
 
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with members, high-net-worth donors, and prospects on sensitive topics.
 - Outstanding written and oral communication skills - particularly in persuasive and emotive writing.
 - Strong organisational and time management abilities; capable of running multiple projects simultaneously.
 - A self-starter who can get projects off the ground and maintain momentum independently.
 - Skilled at building relationships across multiple channels - phone, video call, in-person, and email.
 - Strong research and tracking skills; attention to detail in managing donor data and interactions.
 - Technologically confident: familiarity with Google Workspace and CRM systems.
 - Flexibility to work some evenings and travel within the UK, including to conferences and constituency events.
 - Sympathy with the aims and values of the Liberal Democrats.
 
Desirable
- Experience in major donor fundraising, marketing, or stakeholder engagement.
 - Track record of leading or contributing to successful marketing or fundraising campaigns.
 - Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge or Salesforce databases.
 - Familiarity with PPERA compliance and legacy law processes.
