Job Title: MP Fundraising Lead
Responsible to: Head of Fundraising
Salary: From £35k
Tenure: Permanent with a 3 month probationary period
Hours: Negotiable: 0.6FTE to Full Time (37.5 hours per week)
Location: Hybrid: Liberal Democrats HQ, London; remote working; & some travel to MPs’ constituencies will also be required.
Background
Be at the heart of our next General Election campaign. We’re seeking a talented, politically astute fundraiser to help Liberal Democrat MPs and candidates turn local momentum into vital resources. Your work will power local campaigns, boost our candidates’ prospects, and help drive real change across the country.
Following our best General Election performance in over a century, this is an exceptional moment to join the Liberal Democrat fundraising team. With the political landscape shifting and public appetite for change growing, our fundraising efforts will be critical in shaping success throughout this Parliament and at the next election.
You’ll join a dynamic team focused on securing major donor support across the party. With ambitious targets and real political momentum, we need a proactive, strategic, and entrepreneurial individual to help us deliver.
We’re collaborative, fast-moving, and ambitious. We share ideas openly, celebrate success, and roll up our sleeves when the stakes are high.
You’ll bring excellent communication and presentation skills, sharp political instincts, and the confidence to build and maintain relationships with high-value donors and stakeholders. This is a demanding, hands-on role - perfect for someone flexible, driven, and eager to make an impact.
Purpose of role
This role is all about supercharging local fundraising operations: working closely with our MPs and key parliamentary candidates to help grow income and build long-term donor engagement.
You’ll deliver tailored support across a portfolio of seats, using a mix of:
- Group training
- One-to-one coaching
- Event support
- Donor prospecting
- Strategy development
In some cases, you’ll be working hands-on: helping identify and cultivate donors, plan events, and manage relationships. In others, your role will be more advisory: equipping candidates with the tools, strategy, and oversight they need to run their own effective fundraising operations.
You’ll be the first point of contact for MP & candidate fundraising enquiries: from donor stewardship questions, overcoming roadblocks, compliance and donation acceptance policies - you will become our team’s expert on everything related to constituency fundraising.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with MPs and candidates to grow major donor income by:
- Identifying prospects
- Cultivating relationships
- Organising fundraising events
- Supporting event briefings and refining pitches/asks
- Attending events and following up with donors to secure gifts
- Provide practical fundraising training through group sessions for MPs, candidates, and campaign managers
- Tailor support to each MP’s needs - developing bespoke plans to guide their fundraising
- Share the knowledge and expertise of the central fundraising team across the constituency networks
- Support with donor stewardship, record keeping, and strategic planning
We’re looking for a confident, motivated and highly organised individual; someone who thrives in an externally-facing role and is excited to help grow an engagement programme at a pivotal political moment.
Skills and Experience
- Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with MPs, candidates, high-net-worth donors, and prospective donors.

- Comfortable building relationships via different channels: by phone, video call, in person, and by email.
- Research skills to support donor identification & attentional to detail in tracking interactions & progress. Project management experience would be helpful.
- Background in major donor fundraising or high-value relationship management would be helpful, or similar experience engaging stakeholders in nuanced & meaningful conversations.
- Technologically confident: we use Google Workspace products (Gmail, Sheets, Drive, Calendar etc) & our CRM system is Raiser’s Edge
- Flexibility to work some evenings and travel within the UK, including to conferences and constituency events
- Sympathy with the aims and values of the Liberal Democrats.
