Responsible to: Head of Media
Salary: from £43,000
Hours: Full Time
Tenure: Permanent
Location: LDHQ, Westminster, London
Closing Date: Monday, 1st December
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Liberal Democrats’ regional communications, working closely with our 72 MPs and 75 peers to promote the party across the UK’s nations and regions.
As Regional Communications Manager, you will manage and mentor a team of regional media officers, driving proactive coverage for our Parliamentarians in regional broadcast, print, online, and social media platforms. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping how our MPs and peers communicate their work in Parliament to their constituents and beyond, turning their campaigns and achievements into compelling stories that resonate locally in media and online.
This senior role will involve close collaboration with colleagues across the party, including those in local government and in Scotland and Wales, to develop consistent messaging on key campaigning issues. You will also respond to crisis communications situations, ensuring clear, accurate, and timely responses.
The role includes coordinating communications for visits, events, and photo opportunities, as well as briefing MPs and peers for interviews and managing media training.
The candidate should have strong experience in media or communications — either as a journalist, press officer or digital communications professional — and a solid understanding of Parliament and UK politics. You’ll have exceptional news judgement, organisational ability, and leadership skills, with a proven record of managing people and delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate will also share and support the aims and values of the Liberal Democrats.
