Purpose of role
You’ll be the person in the room with the creative spark for our next big viral moment. You’ll run with the idea, planning, scripting, filming and editing to deliver it. You'll have the freedom to experiment and the support to take creative risks.
You’ll have your finger on the pulse and know what works and what doesn’t on different channels.
Your work will be seen by millions, spreading the word about the work of Liberal Democrat MPs in Parliaments, the positions we’re staking out and what we believe.
Key responsibilities
1. Be the creative driving force behind highly engaging, shareable social media content, developing bold ideas with the potential to go viral and cut through.
2. Own the full workflow from development and scripting through filming, editing and publishing. You'll know when to grab your phone for an authentic moment and when to plan a shoot in detail.
3. Write and edit clear, engaging copy for video scripts, captions, on-screen text and other digital assets. You'll translate complex information into language that connects with audiences whilst ensuring accuracy.
4. Stay up to date with social media content trends, tools, and techniques, and bring fresh ideas to projects to enhance engagement and impact.
5. Provide advice and training to staff and MPs on social media content production.
6. Participate in the national digital team’s duty rota for channel management and out-of-hours cover.
Person specification
Essential
1. A track record of developing successful digital content with a strong portfolio demonstrating creativity.
2. Strong experience of filming and editing high quality video content for social media.
3. Experience of successfully managing social media channels for a high profile organisation, brand, campaign or politician.
4. A strong understanding of the UK’s current political environment and how to engage with voters and Liberal Democrat members.
5. Proven ability to work to exceptionally tight deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
6. Ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
7. A commitment to the aims and values of the Liberal Democrats.
Desirable
1. Experience of livestreaming events.
2. Experience of graphic design.
