Purpose of the job

Do you want to make the world around you a better place to live? Do you want to see your values making a real difference in peoples’ lives? Do you want to play a leading role in helping to re-elect a Liberal Democrat MP at the next General Election? If you answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions, this role may be the perfect opportunity for you!

Local MP Freddie van Mierlo and the Henley & Thame Liberal Democrats are seeking an enthusiastic, politically astute and self-motivated person who can plan and organise campaign activity, build campaigning capacity and manage a team of volunteers.

As Campaigns Organiser, you will be communicating with volunteers about upcoming campaign activities, phoning to recruit and activate new volunteers, designing and arranging distribution for campaign leaflets, coordinating constituency door-knocking efforts, and working together with respective campaign teams to steer our campaigning efforts.

In this role, you would be working to re-elect Freddie in the constituency at the next General Election (6,000 majority), as well as electing Lib Dems at the relevant unitary council elections in 2027. There is currently a Lib Dem majority on the county and district councils, with active and experienced councillors and volunteers.

These tasks will require strong communication skills, a welcoming attitude, and the

confidence to work with and engage volunteers. The successful candidate will be highly motivated by hitting targets, and proactive in keeping the pace of the campaign, getting stuck in on a range of different tasks and getting things done. You will have access to a large programme of training and resources, as well as coaching and mentoring from an experienced team and peer-to-peer mentoring with campaigns staff. In recent years, at least two previous post-holders went on to secure more senior roles in the party.

We need to continue to build our local organisation at all levels to ensure that we hold the parliamentary seat for many years to come. There is a lot to do, this will be hard work but rewarding and hugely fun: are you up for the challenge?
