Salary: £26,250 - £28,500 full-time equivalent depending on experience; pro-rata for 3 days (22.5 hours) per week to start.
Length of Contract: Fixed-term contract basis for 12 months initially with intent to renew

We are seeking a dynamic and personable individual to drive our local campaigning operations. As a pro-active self-starter, you will work with a large degree of independence to lead on all fieldwork, and be crucial for growth by recruiting, training, and managing our dedicated volunteers, while coordinating communications and logistics across the wider party structure and supporting vital enabling activities such as fundraising.
Key responsibilities include:
- Taking the lead arranging and delivering canvass, delivery, and clerical sessions, according to our campaign plan
- Lead and manage volunteers to assist in delivering elements of the campaign plan
- Lead in planning and delivering on the recruitment of new members and volunteers
- Lead engagement efforts to keep supporters informed of events, campaigns & fundraising
- Support the work of our fundraising team, helping with organisation, promotion and logistics
- Plan, organise and lead/assist with member and volunteer training and development
- Support and contribute to the development of the campaign plan, including by supporting the Campaign Committee and monitor and report back on its delivery
- Co-ordinating between the Local Party Executive, Constituency Campaign Team, Lib Dem HQ/Regional staff, Councillors, MP, and MP’s office as appropriate
- Assist with the design, production, printing, management & distribution of literature
It is expected that the Campaigns Officer will need to work some evenings and weekends by agreement.
Skills & experience:
Essential:
Evidence of a passion for politics
Sympathy with the values and mission of the Liberal Democrats
Evidence of outstanding organisational skills
Experience working with volunteers, or with large teams
Willingness to talk to people on the phone, knock on doors and speak to people on stalls, at events etc, and an excellent
Confident user of IT, proficient in office programs and comfortable with managing and using data, and willing to learn new software including Affinity Publisher/Designer/Photo and online databases
Very strong written and oral communication skills
Pro-active self-starter, able to work independently, manage competing priorities, and bring forward your own ideas to your tasks
Due to the rural nature of the Honiton & Sidmouth constituency, a full UK Driving Licence & access to a vehicle is required for this role
Desirable:
Experience in a campaigning role, preferably in politics
Experience managing teams, volunteer or otherwise
Understanding of what makes effective political messaging
Flexibility to work additional hours around elections
This role is NOT suitable for applicants who exclusively wish to work remotely, however some remote working is possible once established within the team. Your travel to your regular place of work in the constituency cannot be subsidised or reimbursed.
