Job Title: Campaign Organiser & Caseworker
Responsible to: Designated Regional Campaigns Manager and Adam Dance MP’s Chief of Staff
Salary: £25,750 + pension contribution.
Hours: 30 hours per week as Campaign Organiser and 7.5 hours per week as Caseworker
Tenure: Fixed-term contract until June 2027
Location: Liberal Democrats’ office, Yeovil, with off-site working across the local party area. Some hybrid working is possible by negotiation.

Summary
Adam Dance MP and the Yeovil Liberal Democrats are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to play a key role in preparing for the 2027 Somerset Council elections.
This is a split role, with one day per week as a Caseworker in Adam Dance MP’s constituency office, and the remaining time focused on campaign organisation for the local party, including volunteer coordination, leaflet production, and organising doorstep activity.

As Campaigns Organiser you will:
The job involves a wide variety of tasks and ever changing skills. You will be expected to:
● Run local campaigns on the ground, directly with our local communities and assisting the Campaign Team in strategic planning and campaign organisation.
● To build and develop digital campaigning capacity.
● Produce high quality communication literature in print and electronically.
● Nurture grassroot volunteering and network, leading on the recruitment of volunteers to build our capacity to fight and win elections.
● Help manage our existing volunteers.
● Support our MP with their campaign.
● Support our councillors in their campaigns.
● Manage and monitor voter contact.
● Provide membership support with the party’s Membership Development Officer.
● Attend relevant conferences, training and other meetings as required.
● There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and travel for work occasionally.
● Any other duties as reasonably required.
As Caseworker you will:
● Assist surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate
● Deal with large numbers of standard queries, as well as assisting on more complex cases from members of the public by phone, email, social media or face to face.
Ongoing communication may be required
● Draft responses to constituents
● Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with the data protection legislation
● Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially and accurately in accordance with the MP
● Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases
● Log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken
● Ensure all enquiries are dealt with in a timely manner Retain records and information confidentially and in line with the Data Protection Act
Person Specification
The following are considered essential:
● Ability to communicate effectively with and maintain the confidence of a wide variety of stakeholders.
● Ability to lead, inspire, mobilise and manage volunteers.
● Excellent written communication skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
● Ability to work independently with limited supervision; self-motivating and able to manage own workload.
● Comfortable using Google and Microsoft applications
● The willingness to learn and develop relevant skills.
● Ability to motivate and manage a team of volunteers and work effectively as a team member.
● Ability to meet deadlines.
● Ability to delegate effectively.
● Sympathetic to Liberal Democrat aims and/or values.
The following criteria are considered highly desirable:
● Previous involvement with Liberal Democrat campaigns.
● Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
● Knowledge of the local area, its politics and local communities.
● Experience of Liberal Democrat software and databases (e.g. Affinity Publisher, Lighthouse & Connect).
