Job Specification: Surrey Heath Liberal Democrats are looking for a dynamic Campaign Organiser to be a key part of the team, building upon the election of Al Pinkerton as our Member of Parliament last year. Currently our team consists of volunteers, elected Councillors and Al as our MP. Since the last local elections in May 2023 where we made extensive gains, taking 24 out of 35 seats on Surrey Heath Borough Council, 4 parish council seats, plus a further two councillors have since been elected via by-elections. These successes have firmly established the Liberal Democrats as the leading party in Surrey Heath.

We are now building our core team to win the 2026 Unitary elections and double our MPs majority at the next General Election. The Campaign Organiser will be a key member of the team that delivers our future success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project manage the campaign plan - You will make sure our Campaign Plan in Surrey Heath is delivered on-time and in-budget, working closely with our campaign team and activists.
  • Produce hard-hitting campaign communications - You will help craft powerful material to inspire voters, donors and supporters. However, you don’t need extensive graphic design experience – as you will work from templates and we can train you up to design leaflets. You will also co-ordinate the printing and distribution of campaign leaflets.
  • Get the message out – You will help plan and manage a rigorous schedule of campaign activity to get the message out to voters across the Surrey Heath constituency. This will involve organising doorstep canvassing, leaflet delivery, mass telephoning to voters and more - all powered by our volunteers.
  • Power-up our team of activists – You will help organise training to arm our volunteers with the skills, tips and tricks they need to make an impact when meeting voters on the doorsteps. You will work with the rest of the campaign team to recruit talented and committed new activists.
  • Provide data-driven campaign advice – You will understand how a data driven campaign works and is organised.
  • Local Party funding – You will support the team with fundraising activities and management of donors.

  • A bonus would be experience using desktop publishing tools.

You can multitask with ease:

  • You are organised enough to manage lots of simultaneous demands from volunteers, the rest of the campaign team and the candidate without losing your cool, losing sight of your goals, nor losing your magic touch.
  • Previous experience organising events would be a bonus.
