About the role
Charlie Maynard MP (Witney) is seeking a diligent and highly organised caseworker to join his constituency team, supporting our Senior Caseworker in responding to residents’ queries.
Day-to-day responsibilities will involve responding to a mix of personal casework queries and correspondence regarding policy issues in a timely manner, as well as attending constituency meetings and advice surgeries alongside Charlie. Full-time and part-time applicants will be considered, with the option of a two-person job share.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage a varied caseload
  • Track progress with all cases, log deadlines and outcomes in Caseworker.
  • Handle phones, emails and letters; assist at surgeries and other community meetings and follow up.
  • Research and draft responses to policy issues/campaigns
  • Liaise with Ministers, health services, local authorities, housing associations and other agencies to progress cases.
  • Draft clear, empathetic responses; escalate where needed and manage expectations.
  • Maintain accurate records; handle data in line with GDPR.

Essential criteria

  • People-facing and/or office experience; able to manage a busy workload.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; professional phone manner and good interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to draft letters/emails to a high standard with strong attention to detail.
  • Confident, empathetic approach to the public; able to handle difficult or emotive situations sensitively.
  • Highly organised and efficient; able to juggle tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient IT (Microsoft 365/Outlook); comfortable with databases and quick to learn.
  • Discretion, sound judgement and strict adherence to GDPR/data protection.
  • Self-starter who works proactively and collaboratively in a small team.
  • Awareness of UK political issues.

Desirable criteria

  • Parliamentary casework or advice-sector experience (e.g., welfare, housing, pensions, immigration)
  • Knowledge of Witney or the surrounding area
  • Experience using Caseworker

Upon appointment, you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.

Interview/Start Dates

Interviews will take place via Teams in the week commencing 19th January, with a final-round in-person interview in Witney the week commencing 26th January 2026. The successful candidate will start as soon as possible after that.
