Role
An exciting opportunity to join David Green MSP and his team in a rewarding and impactful role. You will support David in helping constituents navigate a wide range of challenges, from housing and healthcare to accessing local services.
By handling sensitive information with care and professionalism, identifying recurring issues, and ensuring cases are managed effectively, you will play a key role in helping local people find solutions and access the support they need.
Responsibilities
- Supporting with keeping casework up to date and responding to public enquiries.
- Keeping cases up to date by tracking, logging and recognising when to escalate issues within team
- Responding to all incoming correspondence while professionally managing each enquiry within agreed timescales.
- Assist with surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate.
- Meeting constituents on a wide range of issues, including those of a sensitive nature and escalating accordingly.
- Advocating on constituent's behalf with relevant bodies to resolve matters.
- Providing research support on local issues affecting constituents
- Maintaining office records and compliance with data protection.
- Maintaining filing system and managing records.
- Ensuring compliance with data protection legislation and GDPR requirements.
- Ensuring administrative and secretarial support is provided.
Requirements
Previous experience - whether paid or voluntary - in an advocacy or casework role is desirable but not essential. David welcomes applications from anyone with a genuine commitment to helping others and making a difference in their community.
- Have excellent organisational skills while being flexible in prioritising workloads during busy times.
- Have excellent communications skills, with accurate attention to detail and the ability to work effectively with colleagues.
- Be patient and sensitive while remaining objective and open minded.
- Be comfortable being in a front facing role explaining regulations such as GDPR to the general public.
- Be acutely aware of the responsibility of representing those unable to do so themselves in certain situations.
- Have a natural interest in helping people with a curiosity to probe for further information where required.
- Comfortable using everyday IT and picking up new software quickly.
