English Candidates Committee Chair

The English Party has a vacancy for the Chair of the English Candidates Committee.

The Chair of the English Candidates Committee is a position open to all members in England who the party does not employ. It is term-limited, so the Chair cannot serve more than 4 years in 6, and is elected by the English Council members.

Nominations are now open for this role.

If you are interested and wish to put yourself forward for it, please get in touch with Daniel Jones – the Returning Officer – at EnglishLibDemRO@gmail.com.

Nominations will close at 12 noon on 22 January.

In your email to the Returning Officer, you will need to provide him with:

  • Your name and party membership number – to enable him to verify eligibility;
  • Details of who is nominating you for the position: You can be nominated by either a Local Party, a Regional Party, Young Liberals or by two current English Council members.

In addition to informing the Returning Officer of who will be nominating you in your email to them, your nominators (whether a group or individuals) must also email their nomination of you to the Returning Officer.

They must clearly identify in their communication who they are nominating and, in the case of being nominated by a group, provide details in the form of a meeting minute from that group where the decision to nominate you for the position was made.

The timetable for this election will be:

22nd January (12noon) – Close of Nominations

23rd January – Publication of Statement of Persons Nominated

25th January (12 noon) – Deadline for artwork and email to voters to be submitted to RO*

27th January – Ballots for vacancy issued to English Council members

10th February – Ballots close and declaration

*Please note, manifesto artwork needs to be 1 side of A4, in PDF format. Any endorsements included in a manifesto will require permission from that person to be emailed to the Returning Officer. In addition to artwork, candidates may also submit a 250-word statement, which will be sent to English Council members who will be voting in this election.
