Job Title: National Volunteer Organiser

Responsible to: Strategic Project Manager

Salary: £22,000 - £28,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Hours: Full time (37.5 hours per week), including evening and weekend work

Tenure: Fixed term to next General Election + 1 month

Location: Home based

Purpose of the Job

As our National Volunteer Organiser, you will sit within our member mobilisation team for the General Election.

You will work with this team to lead on the design and delivery of a programme focused on activating our members and supporters to mobilise and join our regular national volunteer-led phone bank contact sessions - termed our national ‘Maraphone’ events.

Key responsibilities

The key responsibilities of this post include:

● Managing the relationships with core volunteers who lead Maraphone events;
● Designing a programme of promotional activity to drive up attendance at Maraphone events, increasing the party’s volunteer phone banking capacity throughout the campaign;
● Ensuring a regular schedule of Maraphone events;
● Providing Maraphone events with phone banks which match campaign priorities;
● Ensuring staff presence at Maraphone events as required;
● Organising VIPs to attend Maraphone events;
● Organising regular ‘thank yous’ to Maraphone callers;
● Reporting back on KPIs from these events.

Person specification

We are looking for a highly organised individual with a positive, self-starter attitude. The successful applicant will need excellent communication skills and be able to work well and gain the confidence of a variety of stakeholders, most especially our large volunteer base of members and supporters.

This role will suit someone with strong project management and personal organisation, who is capable of seeing projects through from design to delivery. Ideally you will have experience of working with volunteer teams to deliver project aims and ambitions.

Essential skills and experience

● Good on the phone;
● Strong personal organisation skills;
● Strong verbal and written communication skills;
● The ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders and colleagues, understanding their different needs and perspectives;
● An understanding of the value of phone banking in an integrated campaign;
● Sympathy with the aims and values of the Liberal Democrats.

Desirable skills and experience

● An understanding and experience of political campaigning, particularly in the value of member and voter contact over the phone;
● Experience working with databases and General Data Protection Regulations;
● Experience of call scripts;
● Experience using Connect - the Party’s database for members and voters;
● Understanding of election law in relation to the content of phone scripts etc.
