Job Title: Organiser & Constituency Support Officer

Working For: Taunton and Wellington Liberal Democrats and Gideon Amos MP

Location: Taunton

Salary band: £26039 - £40533 (in line with IPSA pay scales and according to experience)

Length of Contract: Permanent with 6-month probationary period

Job Details

An exciting opportunity to work with the MP for Taunton and Wellington, Gideon Amos OBE, and the Taunton and Wellington Liberal Democrats local party. You will ensure Gideon works effectively for his constituents and T&W Lib Dems remain a formidable campaigning force.

Full time role split 80:20 between the Taunton and Wellington Liberal Democrats local party and Gideon Amos MP.

Responsibilities for Taunton and Wellington Liberal Democrats

  • Plan and deliver campaigns to deliver election wins
  • Ensure all campaign activities are resourced, communicated and supported
  • Write copy and produce designs and artwork for newsletters/campaign literature
  • Liaise with local teams to ensure newsletters have/campaign literature has relevant content
  • Organise the production of materials to plan and budget
  • Train and build volunteer capacity to achieve campaign objectives
  • Deliver initiatives to achieve fundraising targets
  • Ensure data is maintained and kept confidential, in line with legislation
  • Maintain party databases
  • Build and maintain volunteer delivery networks
  • Deliver copy, photography and artwork to support communications objectives
  • Keep up to date with relevant local and national political issues
  • There may be requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal hours and travel for work occasionally
     

    Responsibilities as Constituency Assistant for Gideon Amos
     

  • Assist with surgeries and other constituency meetings
  • Assist constituents with casework
  • Liaise with Government agencies, voluntary sector and other organisations
  • Manage constituency-based projects
  • Research local, regional or national issues to support parliamentary Gideon’s work
  • Contribute to digital and written communications work

Skills required

  • Patience, empathy and good verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work flexibly in a team
  • Good organisational skills, ability to prioritise and meet strict deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Creative eye for good photos and graphics
  • Proficiency in digital communication tools, platforms and desktop publishing packages
  • Experience working with volunteers or large teams
  • Sympathy with the aims & values of the Liberal Democrats
