Job Details
On the back of incredible success in both the local and national elections, Maidenhead Liberal Democrats and Joshua Reynolds MP are on the hunt for someone special to power up our volunteer army and bring our community together through brilliant fundraising events. If you’re the kind of person who gets a buzz from motivating people and making things happen, we want to hear from you.
Your key responsibilities as our Volunteer & Events Lead:
Build and energise our volunteer powerhouse. You won’t wait for volunteers to come to you – you’ll be out knocking on doors, picking up the phone, and firing off emails to find the activists Maidenhead needs. When someone says “Yes, I want to help,” you’ll be their friendly first point of contact, getting them inducted, trained, and equipped with everything they need to hit the ground running.
Be the go-to person for our volunteer community. You’ll be the friendly face and go-to person for every volunteer who gets involved. You’ll match people’s skills with the right opportunities, solve problems with a smile and build the kind of relationships that turn one-time helpers into lifelong activists. Whether it’s literature delivery, door-knocking or digital campaigning, you’ll make sure everyone’s got what they need.
Keep campaign activities running like clockwork. Working hand-in-glove with our Campaign Manager, you’ll deploy volunteers where they’re needed most – whether that’s door-knocking, phone-banking or stuffing envelopes. You’ll maintain meticulous volunteer records and keep communication flowing so everyone knows what they’re doing and feels fantastic doing it.
Coordinate brilliant fundraising events (without doing it all yourself). You’ll be the conductor of our events orchestra – finding volunteers to lead events, supporting them with guidance and resources, and making sure everything runs smoothly. You’ll recruit event organisers, keep an eye on the details and step in where needed to ensure every event is a success. You’re the safety net and the cheerleader rolled into one.
You:
Get things done without breaking a sweat. You’re hot on organisation, can juggle multiple events and volunteer groups simultaneously, and you’ve got the planning chops to make complex things look easy. Deadlines are your friends, not your enemies.
Know how to bring out the best in people. You’ve got that rare combo of warmth and authority that makes people want to step up. You’ve recruited, trained or managed volunteers or staff before, and you know how to keep teams motivated even when the going gets tough.
Can think on your feet. When the venue cancels two days before your event or three volunteers drop out at the last minute, you don’t panic – you pivot. You’re adaptable, creative, and see problems as puzzles to solve.
Are a details demon with a people-first heart. You’ll spot the typo in the promotional flyer AND remember that volunteer’s name after meeting them once. You’re meticulous about the admin stuff (databases, budgets, records) but never lose sight of the human beings behind the data.
Actually care about making Maidenhead better. You believe in Liberal Democrat values and you’re ready to roll up your sleeves to strengthen our local party. You’ll work the odd evening or weekend when events demand it, because you know that’s when change happens.
