Contract Type: 3 months (Fixed-Term). Potential for extension depending on the success of the role.
Salary: £24,556 (pro rata if full-time)
Hours: 37.5 FTE or part-time considered
About the Role:
Hull Liberal Democrats are looking for a motivated and personable individual to help our team grow by recruiting and engaging more volunteers. This is a fixed-term position with the potential for extension if the initial three month project is a success. This job will recruit people across the city to help councillors and candidates win in the Hull City Council Local Elections due to be held in May 2026.
In this role, your main focus will be recruiting and mobilising new leaflet deliverers, admin volunteers and party members. You will be responsible for implementing a plan that increases engagement and grows the team, reporting to the City Campaign Manager. Much of your work will be on the doorstep, engaging directly with members of the public and potential volunteers. You’ll play a vital role in strengthening the Liberal Democrats' local organisation by bringing new people into the team and supporting them to get involved.
This role will require a person with excellent customer service and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively recruit new volunteers, primarily through door-to-door, phone and email contact.
- Be the main point of contact for new volunteers: inducting them and providing them with the training and resources they need.
- Support the coordination and administration of the Hull Liberal Democrats Campaign Plan - this includes literature delivery, door knocking and digital communications.
- Assist with the organisation and delivery of events
- Maintain accurate volunteer records and support communication with new and existing volunteers
- Contribute to the Liberal Democrat Campaign Team by working collaboratively and positively
Person Specification:
We are looking for a self-starter who can work as part of a close team. You will need to have excellent communication skills and be able to work with a range of different staff, volunteers and stakeholders.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is a motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic who is confident working independently and using initiative
- Has strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially face-to-face
- Is comfortable with doorstep conversations and public engagement
- Has good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Is competent with standard IT tools (email, spreadsheets, databases, etc.)
- Is supportive of the aims and values of the Liberal Democrats
Additional Information:
- Access to a car and a UK Driver's Licence is required
- Evening and weekend work will be required
- Training and support will be provided
- Travel expenses will be reimbursed in line with our policy
