Volunteer Recruitment Officer (West Berkshire)

5 Jan 2026

Position: Volunteer Recruitment Officer

Location: West Berkshire

Contract: Fixed term until July 2026 (potential to extend based on Local Party need and performance)

Salary: £ 3,380 (6 months) £ 559 a month.

Hours: Part-time 10 hours per week

Closing Date: Friday, 23rd January at 4 pm.

Use your door-to-door skills for something that matters.

If you’ve done door-to-door sales or surveys, you already have what we need: confidence, excellent conversation skills, and the ability to turn a quick conversation into action.

The difference? You’re asking people to do something that will make a positive difference to West Berkshire and their local community. It’s no hard sell!

Your job is simple and focused: knock on doors, talk to residents, and recruit volunteers who’ll help our sitting councillors and candidates win here in West Berkshire, Newbury Town
and Thatcham Town. Every “yes” you get grows our local team and moves us closer to victory in May 2027. You’ll also help Lee Dillon, our MP, to win the Newbury seat again when a General Election comes.

What you’ll do

- Recruit volunteers on the doorstep (your primary focus), and by phone
- Turn interest into action: sign people up as leaflet deliverers, admin helpers and members.
- Inform those who say yes of the following steps, training, resources, and support provided.
- Keep accurate records using our online database so we stay in touch and keep people active.
- Be a positive, reliable part of a close, hard-working campaign team.

You’ll be great at this if you:
- Are a motivated self-starter who enjoys working independently and hitting clear targets.
- Have excellent face-to-face communication skills and enjoy meeting people.
- Are comfortable with doorstep conversations and public engagement.
- Are organised, with good attention to detail.
- Can use everyday IT tools (email, spreadsheets, databases).
- Are supportive of Liberal Democrat values and want to make a difference locally.
- Driving licence and access to a car.

The offer
- £ 3,380 salary for 6 months
Complete training and ongoing support
Travel expenses reimbursed as per WBLP Policy
Evening and weekend work will be required, but this job can be flexible to accommodate your life.
