Westminster Parliamentary Candidate for the constituency of Salisbury.

25 Sep 2025

The Local Party Executive of Salisbury Liberal Democrats invite applications for selection as the Prospective Westminster Parliamentary Candidate for the constituency of Salisbury.

Salisbury Constituency includes the cathedral city (44% of the electorate), some adjacent small towns, and a large rural area. In the 2024 GE Labour were unable to challenge despite late recommendations from at least one tactical voting website, as their active presence is limited to a few city-centre wards. Although the Liberal Democrat candidate was pushed into third with 23.6%, our vote numbers grew by 13%. In the all-out local elections in May 2025, we increased our representation to ten City Council and five Wiltshire Unitary Council seats within the constituency and now lead both Salisbury and Wiltshire councils as the largest party.

To apply applicants must email the Returning Officer:

  • Election Artwork (such as a political cv/manifesto) of no more than one side of A4 in PDF format, which will be used for the member mailing and e-ballot;
  • Their contact details;
  • A signed Candidate Statement & Diversity Form here

Returning Officer Penny Dawson: email penedawson@gmail.com

It is the responsibility of applicants to check that their applications have been received by the Returning Officer before the close of applications at 1700 on 10 October.
